2. Why do trees need paint after pruning? When a tree is pruned, the cut can let germs in and the bark can dry out. Tree paint stops germs from getting in and keeps moisture inside so the tree can grow a new protective layer. It helps the tree stay healthy after the cut.
3. How does tree paint help a tree heal?Tree paint makes a barrier around the wound that blocks bacteria, fungi, and other germs. Some paints also keep water inside the wound, which helps the tree grow a callus and close the cut. This lets the tree keep its own natural healing process working.
