Write what each word means, using the article.

Do not copy the article. Write two things you learned, the way you would explain them to a friend.

Answers below are taken from the article’s stored facts, so they match what the student read.

1. How heavy is the Ring Nebula?Estimated between 1 and 3 solar masses
2. What is the catalog designation?Messier 57 (M57)
3. What is the constellation?Lyra
4. Why does the Ring Nebula have bright spots and dark lines? The bright knots and dark filaments are caused by shock waves and turbulence when the star blew off its outer layers. They show how the gas moves and mixes.
5. How fast is the Ring Nebula moving? The gas in the nebula is expanding at about 20 to 30 kilometers per second, which is very fast compared to everyday speeds.

Planetary Nebula: An emission nebula consisting of an ionized gas shell ejected from a red giant star, typically surrounding a white dwarf.
White Dwarf: The degenerate remnant core of a low-to-medium mass star, primarily composed of carbon and oxygen.
Photoionization: The ionization of an atom or molecule by absorbing a photon of sufficient energy, typically ultraviolet radiation.
Galactic Chemical Evolution: The process by which the abundance of chemical elements in the interstellar medium of a galaxy changes over time due to stellar nucleosynthesis and mass loss.
