1. What is Purgatory?Purgatory is a special waiting place where souls who have died in God's grace but still need to be cleaned from small sins are purified before they can see God. It is not a prison, but a hopeful step toward heaven.
2. Why do people go to Purgatory instead of straight to heaven?People go to Purgatory because they have not yet fully cleared the small hurts or leftover effects of sin. It helps them become perfectly aligned with God's holiness before entering heaven.

Beatific Vision: The direct, unmediated experience of God's presence in heaven.
Venial Sins: Less serious sins that wound but do not destroy the relationship with God.
Communion of Saints: The spiritual union of all believers, living and deceased, in Christ.
