Answers below are taken from the article’s stored facts, so they match what the student read.

1. What is the scientific name?Photoreceptor cell
2. What are photoreceptor cells in my eye? They are tiny superhero cells called rods, cones, and a special type called ipRGCs. They catch light and send signals to help us see and keep our body clock on time.
3. How do rods help me see when it's dark?Rods catch even a single photon of light and use a chemical chain to send a strong signal. This lets us see shapes and movement in low light.

Photopigments: Light-sensitive molecules (like rhodopsin and opsins) within photoreceptors that absorb photons.
G Protein-Coupled Receptor (GPCR): A type of receptor protein that initiates intracellular signaling cascades upon activation by a ligand.
