1. What is compensatory growth?Compensatory growth is when a living thing grows faster after a time when it didn't get enough food or nutrients. It helps the body catch up to its normal size or weight.
2. Why does the body grow faster after not getting enough food? When food stops being scarce, the body’s hormones and cells become more active, making the body grow quickly to make up for the lost time.

Compensatory Growth: A biological phenomenon where an organism experiences a period of accelerated growth to recover from a prior phase of slowed development, often due to insufficient resources.
Nutrient Deprivation: A condition where an organism does not receive an adequate supply of essential nutrients, such as proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, necessary for proper growth and function.
Organism: Any individual living entity, encompassing a broad range of life forms from single-celled microbes to complex multicellular beings like animals and plants.
Overcompensation: A state where compensatory growth results in the organism not only reaching but potentially exceeding its normal size or weight, sometimes accompanied by increased fat accumulation.
